The minimum order is 2 Cubic Metres
Firewood is sold as a “thrown measure” unless specifically stated otherwise. This means that the quantity of wood is measured as if it was thrown into a container and not as if it was stacked. Stacking it will reduce the volume by about 1/3. (3 cubic metres of thrown wood is roughly equivalent to 2 cubic metres stacked).
Yes, we have a certificate of approval for our measure.

"Businesses that sell firewood by the cubic metre must use a measure that has been certified by the Measurement and Product Safety Service”

If you wish to view our certificate of measure, please ask our driver at the time of delivery.

Firewood should be stored in a well aerated location; the more ventilation the better. The location must also be covered. It’s best to store firewood on pallets, bricks or plastic to avoid moisture from the ground being drawn up into the firewood.

When stacking your firewood, it’s best to stack the wood in a criss-cross pattern allowing for maximum airflow. The more air the better.

The normal home, with a single wood-burner running most nights throughout winter, requires on average between 8-10 cube to see the winter out. This varies depending on the type of firewood you’re burning.

“If purchasing in bulk always check out our specials for large quantity purchases”

We offer two sizes of Firewood. 50cm lengths (approximately) for large open fireplaces and 30cm lengths (approximately) for standard fireplaces. If you have a very small fireplace we offer Beech Blocks, offcuts of our premium Beech Wood product.

The Native Beech is a by-product from our sustainably managed Southland regenerated Beech Forests. Please refer to www.lindix.co.nz for further information.

Ideally you should be purchasing your firewood in summer, earlier the better. Firewood will always dry more effectively once sheltered and stacked. Highlander Firewood will always offer discounts to customers when purchasing unseasoned firewood.

Throughout winter, there are costs associated with storing firewood so that it’s ready to burn. These costs are directly passed on to the customer. Unseasoned firewood will be sold through spring and summer at a lesser cost. We will always have promotions throughout the year - Regularly check our promotions page.
